BABSON PARK, Mass.—Junior Ally Yamada (Seal Beach, Calif.) scored a game-high 18 points to lead three players in double figures as No. 16 D3hoops./No. 12 WBCA Smith College defeated Babson College, 64-50, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's basketball action on Wednesday night inside Staake Gymnasium. 
Babson, which has dropped three straight games, sees its record drop to 6-10 overall and 0-2 in the NEWMAC. Smith improves to 13-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play with its fifth consecutive victory. 
Sophomore 
Chloe Perreault (Danbury, Conn.) scored 15 points on 7-of-13 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Beavers. Classmate 
Allessia Carlo (Carmel, N.Y.) finished with 10 points, junior 
Camilla Silk (Medfield, Mass.) added eight points and a career-high 13 boards and first-year 
Samantha Reale (North Attleboro, Mass.) chipped in with eight points in the loss. 
Senior Jessie Ruffner (Rocklin, Calif.) posted a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, first-year Hannah Martin (North Andover, Mass.) recorded 10 points, seven boards and three assists, and graduate student Sofia Rosa (Sudbury, Mass.) contributed nine points and 10 rebounds for the Pioneers. 
The Green and White erased an early six-point lead with back-to-back three-pointers by Perreault and Carlo and trailed 13-12 after the opening quarter. Yamada canned a three-pointer to start the second and sophomore Selam Maher (Hopkins, Minn.) drilled another triple as Smith built a 21-14 advantage with 5:49 to go until halftime. Reale cut the Beavers' deficit to three with a bucket at the 3:39 mark and Perreault scored inside with 1:03 to go to get the hosts back within 25-20 at the break. 
Babson cut its deficit to three on three occasions early in the third before Yamada started an extended 17-7 run with a three-pointer make it 32-26. She scored nine points in all during the spurt, which included a trifecta with 0:05 left in the stanza, to give the Pioneers a 46-31 lead. 
Silk closed the third quarter with a layup and junior 
Katelyn Mollica (Foxborough, Mass.) and Perreault scored on back-to-back possessions to get the Beavers within nine with 8:34 remaining in the fourth. Down 12 after a pull-up jumper by Ruffner with 5:15 left, junior 
Emily Flynn (Hanover, Mass.) knocked down a three-pointer and Carlo went 1-of-2 at the free throw line to cut Babson's deficit to 51-43 with 3:46 remaining. 
The hosts were unable to get any closer though, as Martin went 6-of-6 and scored eight points over the final 1:23 to put the game away. 
The Beavers shot 38.6 percent from the floor while holding Smith to a season-low 35.5 percent shooting. The Pioneers outscored the Green and White 15-2 at the free throw line and finished with a 41-34 edge on the glass. 
Both teams return to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. as Babson hosts Salve Regina while Smith travels to Wheaton. 
GAME NOTES
•    Babson is now 40-17 all-time against Smith but have dropped five straight games in the series going back to 2022. 
•    The Beavers are now 1-2 versus ranked foes this winter, which includes a 60-42 win over then No. 21/17 Tufts on January 7 and a 53-48 loss to No. 3 Rhode Island College back on November 26. 
•    The Green and White is now 6-5 on the year when its opponents shoot below 40 percent. 
•    Mollica, who entered the night as the leading three-point shooter in the NEWMAC, was limited to just two attempts from deep by Smith.
