Leading 16-15 in the opening stanza, the Green and White used a 9-1 run that included two kills apiece from Gips and first-year Natalie Molendyk (Danville, Calif.) to one-set advantage. Game two featured seven ties and three lead changes before a strong finish helped Babson pull out a three-point victory. The Beavers went in front 23-22 on a service error by Flack, Gips followed with a kill and then combined with senior Lulu McShane (Glencoe, Ill.) on set point.

A wild third set saw the Green and White lead by as many as seven and trail by as much as five before scoring seven consecutive points to go back in front 24-22. The Lyons fought off two match points and got an ace from Henn followed by a Babson attack error to stay alive and force a fourth set.

The teams were deadlocked at 9-9 in the fourth before three kills and a block by Gray helped spark a 7-2 run that put the Beavers in front for good. Babson put away 10 kills and hit .333 while taking advantage of nine Wheaton errors in the frame.
