Women's Volleyball Soars Past Gulls for 10th Straight Win, 3-1

Box Score BABSON PARK, Mass.—First-year Allison Molendyk (Danville, Calif.) finished with a team-high 15 kills and junior Lauren Gips (Orlando, Fla.) led all players with eight blocks to help Babson College defeat visiting Endicott College in four sets (32-30, 21-25, 26-24, 25-11) in non-conference women's volleyball action on Wednesday night inside Staake Gymnasium.

With its 10th consecutive win, Babson improves to 13-1 overall while Endicott dips to 5-7 on the year.

Senior Erin Gray (Oakland, Calif.) contributed 14 kills, classmate Lulu McShane (Glencoe, Ill.) recorded nine kills and 11 digs and Gips chipped in with eight kills to lead the Beavers. First-year Zoe Ackerman (Aurora, Colo.) dished out 40 assists and had 11 digs, while junior Tatum Stelter (Glendale, Ariz.) and sophomore Sophia Shaw (Novato, Calif.) tied for team-high honors with 12 digs.

First-year Hadley Helenbrook (Atlanta, Ga.) led all players with 18 kills and 13 digs and graduate student Krystina Schueler (Trumbull, Conn.) finished with 11 kills and a .385 hitting percentage to pace the Gulls. Junior Savannah Cambell (Soquel, Calif.) handed out 33 assists and added 10 digs in the loss.

The opening set featured 23 ties and 12 lead changes with neither team leading by more than two at any point. The Green and White fought off a pair of set points down 24-23 and 26-25 and then went in front by one five times, the last coming at 31-30 on a kill by McShane before closing out the stanza thanks to an attack error by the Gulls.

Down four early in the second, the Beavers rallied and took their largest lead of the game at 18-15 on a block by Gips and Ackerman. The visitors pulled even at 20 on a kill by sophomore Stephanie Moreau (Methuen, Mass.) and took advantage of three straight Babson errors to forget a three-point lead they would relinquish.

The Green and White led by as many as four on three occasions in the third, the last coming at 18-14, before Endicott rallied to take a 24-23 edge thanks to kills by Schueler and junior Megan Murphy (Danvers, Mass.) and an ace by Helenbrook. McShane and Gips combined on a block to keep the set alive and Gray followed with back-to-back kills to finish off a 26-24 victory.

The teams traded the first eight points of the fourth before the hosts went on an 8-1 run that included a pair of kills by Molendyk and two aces by Gips for a commanding 12-5 lead. The Beavers were error-free in the frame, putting away 10 kills and hitting .455 to close out the match.

Both teams return to action on Saturday as Babson travels to Wheaton to take on the host Lyons and Gordon beginning at 11 a.m., while Endicott heads to New York City for matches against Hunter and No. 11 NYU.
