Babson Adds Two Athletic Trainers, Post Promoted to Associate Director of Athletic Performance
BABSON PARK, Mass.—Babson College Director of Athletics Performance
Rick Burr announced the hiring
Morgan Almon and
Adam VanDerMolen as athletic trainers and the promotion of
Tim Post to associate director of athletics performance on Thursday afternoon.Â
Almon comes to Babson following a two-year stint as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Nichols College in Dudley, Mass. She worked directly with the men's and women's soccer programs, women's ice hockey, women's lacrosse and cheerleading while providing care, prevention, evaluations and treatment to student-athletes for each of the Bison's 23 teams.Â
A 2021 graduate of King's College in Wilkes Barre, Pa., Almon was a four-year member of the women's ice hockey program. She saw action in 71 games over her first three seasons for the Monarchs on defense producing one goal and three assists for four points.Â
In addition to her time as a student-athlete, Almon gained clinical experience while working through the College's athletic training professional phase experience teams. She was responsible for prevention, evaluation and rehabilitation of injuries for a number of the Monarchs' programs in addition to working at Hazelton Area High School.Â
"I am honored and excited to have been selected to join the sports medicine staff as an athletic trainer at Babson," remarked Almon. "I am elated to work in such exemplary facilities and alongside so many amazing individuals. I am excited to be able to call Babson my new home and to begin this journey!"Â
A native of Warwick, R.I., Almon was a member of the King's Sports Medicine Society and joined the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) in 2021. She will work with men's soccer, men's and women's track & field and baseball at Babson.
VanDerMolen comes to Babson after completing his master of science degree in athletic training at Sacred Heart University back in May. He worked directly with the Pioneers' women's lacrosse and rowing programs this past spring and was responsible for pre and post-practice and game treatments, on-field evaluations and managing the mental health of student-athletes.Â
VanDerMolen spent the back half of 2021-22 working the with Sacred Heart men's ice hockey program providing treatment, overseeing rehabilitation and working alongside the team physician to manage injuries. He also spent last fall working with the Pioneers' football squad where he assisted in practice preparations, collaborated with the team physical on sideline evaluations and assisted in treating over 150 student-athletes.Â
"I am beyond excited to start my career at a place like Babson," said VanDerMolen. "I have been looking forward to this moment for many years and it has finally arrived. I cannot wait to see how I grow here as a professional and a person."Â
A 2021 graduate of Sacred Heart with a bachelor of science degree in exercise science, VanDerMolen has also provided medical coverage at the Buckingham, Browne & Nichols School in Cambridge and during the 2022 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championships in Hartford, Conn. He will work directly with the Beavers' volleyball, men's and women's cross country, men's basketball and women's lacrosse programs.Â
We are extremely excited about add Morgan and Adam to our sports medicine team," commented Burr.  "Both bring with them great expertise in a variety of areas.  Morgan's outstanding work  and knowledge of Division III at Nichols College and Adam's first class experience at Division I Sacred Heart.  They will enhance our already strong sports medicine department."
In addition to adding Almon and VanDerMolen to the staff, Post has been promoted to associate director of athletics performance. Since arriving at Babson in August 2019, he has worked directly with multiple programs and has served as a mentor on the athletics training staff.Â
"Tim's promotion to associate director of athletic performance is long overdue," stated Burr.  "Tim has been an integral part of the sports medicine department since his arrival.  He was extremely important in our managing of COVID and over the last two years, Tim's  mentorship has been extremely important on our ability to offer first rate care to our athletes."
