Women's Volleyball Meets Simmons on Tuesday Night

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson Is 21-7 all-time against Simmons in a series that dates back to 1980. 
•    The Beavers have won four straight and 11 of the last 12 matches between the teams since 1999.
•    The Green and White has won its last five matches against the Sharks inside Staake Gymnasium during this stretch although the teams did not play between 2002-11. 

LAST MEETING
•    Martina Jankovic Chin '23 hit .379 and  totaled 15 kills and five blocks to help Babson defeat Simmons in five sets, 25-22, 20-25, 25-23, 21-25, 15-11, on October 18, 2022, in Boston. 
•    Junior Tatum Stelter led all players with 24 digs, senior Lulu McShane had nine kills and senior Ruby Reich and Izzy Seebold M'23 combined to dish out 44 assists for the Beavers. 
•    Claire Conners finished with 20 kills and 10 digs and Kat Simeonidis contributed 30 assists, 11 digs and five service aces for the Sharks, who had 20 aces and 21 service errors in the match. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (17-1) has won 14 straight matches and is coming off a three-set sweep of WPI last Friday. 
•    Senior Erin Gray and sophomore Isabella Allen both had eight kills, first-year Zoe Ackerman and Reich combined for 24 assists and Stelter added 12 digs for the Beavers, who hit .256 as a team. 
•    Gray (3.03 k/s, .223 hitting pct.) and first-year Allison Molendyk (3.03 k/s, .241 hitting pct.) both rank among the top 10 in the NEWMAC in kills per set, junior Lauren Gips (2.53 k/s, 1.05 b/s) is hitting .405 and McShane is averaging 2.26 kills per set and hitting a .251 clip. 
•    Ackerman is handing out 7.00 assists per set, sophomore Roz Cabunea is averaging a team-best 4.15 digs per set and Stelter (3.22 d/s) leads the Green and White with 209 digs and 43 service aces. 

SCOUTING THE SHARKS
•    Simmons (9-6) has won its last six matches and is coming off a 3-0 sweep of Elms last Friday. 
•    Conners hit .471 and led a balanced attack with nine kills, Chelsea Simmons handed out 19 assists and Jayla Parnell tied for match-high honors with 11 digs for the Sharks, who made just six errors and hit .349 as team. 
•    Conners is averaging 2.79 kills and hitting .246, Parnell is contributing 2.28 kills and 1.58 digs and Simmons has chipped in with 1.96 kills, 4.79 assists, 2.18 digs and 0.63 blocks. 
•    Simeonidis is handing out 3.25 assists to go along with 2.30 digs per set and a team-high 36 aces, while Carolina Rodriguez is averaging a team-high 3.44 digs per set. 

STREAKING BEAVERS
•    Babson's 14-match winning streak is the program's third longest going back to 2017 behind only last year's 16 straight victories and the school-record 22 consecutive wins in 2019. 
•    Entering the week, the Beavers' 14 wins in a row is the third longest active streak in Division III behind only No. 1 Juniata's 42 straight victories and the 21 consecutive wins by No. 2 Wisconsin-Oshkosh. 

COMING UP ACES
•    The Beavers served up 14 aces, including six by Stelter and four by Ackerman, in Friday's win over WPI to finish just one shy of their season high of 15 set against Amherst back on September 8. 
•    Babson has recorded 10 or more service aces 11 times this season and is averaging 2.91 aces per set, which ranks second in the NEWMAC. 

TRENDS TO WATCH
•    Going back to November of last year, Gips has hit .286 or better while recording at least one block in 11 straight matches. 
•    Stelter has at least one ace in 13 straight outings and has recorded 12 or more digs in 11 of the last 12 matches. 
•    Gray has totaled at least six kills in all 18 matches this fall, which includes putting away 10 more kills seven times over the last 12 outings. 
•    Sophomore Lilly Steiner has at least one block in 15 straight appearances dating back to September 8. 

OLD FRIEND ON THE OTHER SIDE
•    Simmons is coached by Patrick Helmas, who is in his second season as the Sharks' head coach following a successful eight-year run as Babson head coach Eric Neely's top assistant.
•    During his time in Babson Park, the Beavers captured four NEWMAC Tournament championships and made six NCAA Tournament appearances, including the program's first trip to the national quarterfinals in 2018.

NUMBERS TO WATCH
•    The Beavers are 14-0 on the year and have won 33 straight matches when winning the first set. 
•    Babson is 7-0 this fall and 122-16 overall at home since Eric Neely was named head coach ahead of the 2011 season. 
•    The Green and White is 11-0 this season and 42-4 going back to the start of the 2021 campaign when hitting .200 or better.
