Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

No. 8 Men's Soccer Held to 0-0 Draw at Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—Junior goalkeeper Walker White (Coral Gables, Fla.) made one save as No. 8 Babson College was held to a 0-0 draw at Springfield College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon.

Babson, which is unbeaten over its last seven matches, is 9-3-4 overall and 4-0-1 in conference play. Springfield, which is winless over its last four games, is now 4-5-5 overall and 1-2-3 in the NEWMAC.

The Green and White finished with an 18-7 edge in shots and hit the woodwork twice in the opening half. Springfield sophomore goalkeeper Noah Pote (Washington, Conn.) went down to deny graduate student Justin Stone's (Cary, N.C.) from inside the box in the 20th minute and senior Joseph Cardaropoli (Longmeadow, Mass.) hit the left post with his rebound.

Pote made another diving save in the 43rd minute to deny senior Lorenzo Mancini's (Franklin, Mass.) header following a nifty service by sophomore James Modiano (Montclair, N.J.) and graduate student Sam Morgan (Charles Town, W. Va.) saw his rebound attempt from inside six yards ring off the crossbar.

White came up big early in the second half when he reacted quickly to stop a blast by Pride senior Chris Cruz (Greenwich, Conn.) from 15 yards after the Beavers were unable to clear the ball from the box. Babson was unable to put a shot on target over the final 45 minutes but Mancini saw his shot from 20 yards roll wide of the left post with 11:53 remaining and first-year Will Lloyd's (Lexington, Mass.) had his shot cleared off the line by a defender with just over five minutes to play.

Pote finished with five saves to record his eighth shutout of the year for the Pride.

In addition to their decided edge in shots, the Beavers attempted 13 of the 14 corner kicks in the game.

Both teams return to action on Saturday as Babson hosts MIT at 1 p.m., while Springfield visits Wheaton for a 2 p.m. start.
