SERIES HISTORY
• Babson and Williams will meet for just the third time in history on Thursday evening and the first time since 2010, with each team winning one of the first two. Both previous encounters took place in post-season play.
• The Ephs captured the initial game, 12-9, at Williams on May 11, 1996, in the semifinals of the ECAC Tournament, and the Beavers won the second meeting, 8-6, in Williamstown in the 2010 NCAA Tournament.
LAST MEETING
• Sarah Macary '11 made 13 saves in net to help No. 11 Babson earn a thrilling 8-6 victory over No. 10 Williams in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Renzie Lamb Field on May 12, 2010.
• Alyssa Hood '11 led the Babson attack with three goals and one assist in the win, while first-year Jamie Spang '13 added two goals in the victory. Anna Collins '10, Trisha Babson '12, and Taylor Kralovenec '13 each added one goal and one assist, while Collins and classmate Marissa Monaco '10 each added three caused turnovers and Bridget McCurdy '12 chipped in with a clutch blocked shot in the final minutes of play.
• Margie Fulton '12 and Whitney Thayer '10 each scored two goals to pace Williams, while Kaitlin Ellis '12 contributed a game-high three assists. Julia Schreiber '11 was also outstanding in net for the Ephs, finishing with eight saves in defeat.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (5-5) is coming off a 14-8 non-conference setback at Roger Williams on Sunday, which came on the heels of a 21-2 conference victory Saturday over Clark.
• Junior Erin Jayne scored three times and senior Courtney Kaskey and first-year Amelia Novitch registered two goals apiece in the loss on Sunday. Junior Claudia Dodge contributed a goal, three assists, four ground balls and two caused turnovers, senior Brooke Leveillee scooped up four ground balls and first-year Clare Connolly collected a game-high five draws for the Beavers.
• Jayne (26-13-39) tops the Beavers in scoring, while Dodge (18-8-26), Kaskey (20-4-24) and Novitch (15-4-19) are also key offensive threats. Dodge has team-highs of 21 caused turnovers and 28 ground balls while Connolly leads the squad with 40 draw controls.
• First- goalie Kathleen Murphy (5-5, 12.29 GAA, .391 sv. pct.) has started all 10 games in goal for the Beavers.
SCOUTING THE EPHS
• Williams (3-4) brings a three-game winning streak into Thursday's game after dropping its first four games of the season to nationally-ranked teams (Trinity, Tufts, Bowdoin, and Washington and Lee).
• The Ephs are coming off a 15-10 victory over conference foe Bates on Saturday as junior Shea van Den Broek scored four goals, first-year Claudia Russell fired in three, and junior Lily Warendorf tallied a team-high five points on two goals and three assists.
• Sophomores Molly Hellman (6) and Abby Godwin (5) combined for 11 ground balls in the victory, and Russell (10) and Collier (8) combined for 18 draw controls. Junior Caitlyn Joyce made eight saves in goal for the win.
• van Den Broek (15-7-22) leads the team in scoring while Godwin has a team-high 19 ground balls and Russell (19) and Collier (18) lead the way in draw controls.
BABSON VS. THE NESCAC
• Thursday's contest is the third Babson game against teams from the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) this season.
• The Beavers were defeated by then-No. 6 Middlebury (now No. 1) back on March 13, and knocked off by then-No. 12 Wesleyan (now No. 11) on March 27.
• Babson is looking for its first win against a NESCAC team since a 17-6 victory over Bates on March 6, 2019.
BABSON IN NCAA STATS
• The Beavers are ranked eighth among 283 teams in Division III in free position percentage (.582).
• Dodge is ranked 51st individually in free position percentage (.688).
BEAVER STREAKS
• Jayne has recorded at least one point in all 20 of her games dating back to the start of her career in February of 2020.
• Jayne and Dodge have both scored at least one goal in five straight games. Jayne has three straight multi-goal outings and multiple goals in seven out of 10 games this spring,
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• Babson has won 17 in a row, including two this year, when holding the opponent to 10 goals or fewer, and are 29-1 since the start of 2018.
• The Beavers have won their last 28 games when leading at halftime, including three this year, and are 33-1 when ahead at the break dating back to 2018.
