Box Score BABSON PARK, Mass.— Junior Erin Jayne (Merrimac, Mass.) tallied six points, including her 100th career point, and 10 different players scored goals as Babson College coasted past Wellesley College, 22-5, in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's lacrosse game Saturday afternoon at MacDowell Field.
With the victory, Babson posted its fourth straight victory and improved to 9-5 overall and 5-1 in the NEWMAC while Wellesley dropped to 3-9 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
Jayne finished with two goals and four assists to push her career totals to 64 goals and 36 assists for the Beavers, while first-year Kathryn Blake (Medfield, Mass.) totaled four goals and one assist and senior Courtney Kaskey (Winnetka, Ill.) scored four times. Junior Claudia Dodge (Pelham, N.Y.) added three goals and two assists and classmate Anna Katherine Sypniewski (Vero Beach, Fla.) chipped in with three goals and one assist in the win.
First-year Clare Connolly (Hanover, Mass.) also collected seven draw controls, and first-year goalie Kathleen Murphy (Scarborough, Maine) made four save saves between the pipes.
Senior Eleanor Mallett (Berwick, Maine) led the visitors with two goals and grabbed four draw controls, while junior Liz Sugg (Palermo, Maine) scored once and recorded five draw controls. Sophomore Willa McGough (Plainfield, N.H.) and senior Izzy Burdick (Scarborough, Maine) also scored for the Blue, and senior Lorna Li (Taunton, Mass.) made six saves in goal.
Babson got off to a slow start with only a goal by Jayne in the first seven minutes of the game, but came alive with seven more in the second half of the first frame. Sophomore Nicole Darveau (Sudbury, Mass.) had a pair of first-quarter goals and Jayne picked up three assists as the Beavers pulled out to an 8-0 lead.
The Green and White scored three straight goals on free position shots to start the second quarter, one apiece from Jayne, Blake and Kaskey before Jayne set up Blake for her 100th career point with 6:45 left in the second. Dodge tacked on two more goals and Kaskey closed out the half with her third of the game to make it 15-0 at the intermission.
Mallett finally broke through for the Blue with a goal to start the third quarter and Sugg added another late in the stanza but Babson scored four times in between, including two by first-year Amelia Novitch (Dover, Mass.), to make it 19-2 after three. The teams alternated goals in the fourth quarter for the 22-5 final.
Babson finished with a 31-14 margin in shots, a 17-12 advantage in draw controls, and a 16-10 lead in ground balls. The Beavers were good on all 14 clear attempts while holding Wellesley to just 8-of-17 on clears.
Both teams are back in action with conference road games on Wednesday at 6 p.m. as Babson travels to Emerson and Wellesley visits Springfield.

• Babson is 23-21 all-time against Wellesley in a series that dates back to 1987.
• The 22 goals for the Beavers is a season high and the most since a 22-4 victory over Springfield in the 2021 NEWMAC championship game.
• After edging MIT 17-16 for its first conference win this spring, the Green and White have outscored the opponents 81-11 in the last four NEWMAC victories.
• Jayne has at least one point in all of her 24 career games, and she and Dodge have both produced at least one goal in nine consecutive games.
