SERIES HISTORY
• Despite being separated by less than 10 miles, Babson and Framingham State will meet for the first time on Wednesday afternoon in Babson Park.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (3-4) followed up a 17-16 OT win at MIT on Saturday with an 18-5 loss to No. 12 Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon.
• First-year Jessica Evans scored twice and junior Claudia Dodge finished with two goals, four ground balls and three caused turnovers for the Beavers, who attempted a season-low 10 shots against the Cardinals.
• Junior Erin Jayne (16-12-28) is riding a 17-game points streak and has four multi-goal games this spring, Dodge (13-4-17) leads the team in free-position goals (10), ground balls (22) and caused turnovers (18), and senior Courtney Kaskey (13-3-16) has a goal in six of the team's first seven contests.
• First-years Clare Connolly (24) and Michaela Downer (19) have collected half of Babson's draw controls over the first seven games, while classmate Kathleen Murphy has posted a 13.52 goals against average and a .338 save percentage in seven starts.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
• Framingham State (3-4) had its two-game winning streak halted in a 15-12 loss to Endicott on Saturday afternoon.
• Senior Tara Palermo, sophomore Rachel Erickson and first-year Leah Green all scored three times and junior Madison Skiff dished out a game-high four assists for the Rams, who led 6-5 at halftime but converted just 1-of-8 free-position chances in the loss.
• Palermo (20-3-23) is tied for the team lead with 24 draw controls, sophomore Hannah Guerin (16-1-17) lead the squad with five free-position tallies, and sophomore Regan Fein (8-8-16) has scooped up a team-high 12 ground balls.
• First-year Kathryn Simpson (6-3-9) has contributed 24 draw controls, 11 ground balls and a team-high seven caused turnovers, while junior Alexis Burleigh owns a 13.17 goals against average and a .436 save percentage in seven starts.
JAYNE, DODGE COLLECT CONFERENCE HONORS
• Jayne was selected as the NEWMAC Offensive Player of the Week while Dodge collected defensive player of the week accolades on Monday afternoon.
• Jayne scored five times, which included the tying goal with 30 seconds left in the fourth quarter and the game winner 37 seconds into overtime to lift the Beavers to a 17-16 victory at MIT on Saturday.
• Dodge was superb in two games last week totaling nine caused turnovers, seven ground balls and five draw controls to go along with five goals and one assist for six points. She scored three times and achieved a new career high with six caused turnovers as Babson picked up their first NEWMAC win against the Engineers on Saturday in Cambridge.
FREE-POSITION EFFICIENCY
• Babson converted both of its opportunities in Sunday's loss to Wesleyan and ranks 14th in Division III scoring on 59.1 percent of its free-position chances.
• The Beavers have scored at least four free-position tallies four times over their first seven games and went 6-for-12 in Saturday's victory at MIT.
UNFAMILIAR TERRITORY
• Wednesday's matchup against Framingham State is Babson's first against a MASCAC opponent since 2018 when it opened the season with an 18-5 victory over Bridgewater State.
• The Rams have already faced three other NEWMAC programs this spring, defeating Wellesley (18-3) and Wheaton (11-10) while losing to Springfield 13-11 on March 2.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers are 1-3 at home this season although the three losses have come to No. 1 Middlebury, No. 9 Ithaca and No. 11 Wesleyan.
• Babson is 2-0 this season and has won its last 27 games when leading at halftime, a streak that extends back to April 14, 2018.
• The Beavers have won 17 consecutive games when holding their opponents to 10 goals or less.
