SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—Sophomore Jordy Allard (Woodstock, Vt.) and three relievers combined on a seven-hit shutout as No. 14/14 Babson College defeated Springfield College, 3-0, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEMWAC) baseball action on Wednesday afternoon at Archie Allen Field.

Babson, which snapped a two-game losing streak, improves to 18-4 overall and 8-2 in league play, while Springfield dips to 13-11 overall and 5-5 in the NEWMAC.

Allard struck out five and scattered six hits over 6.0 innings to improve to 5-0 on the year with the win for the Beavers. Junior William Gallagher (Kingston, Mass.) struck out one in the seventh, sophomore Henry Leake (Burbank, Calif.) worked a perfect eighth, and senior Max Tannenbaum (Coral Springs, Fla.) fanned one to pick up his fifth save with a scoreless ninth.

Juniors Sean Harrington (Walpole, Mass.) and Jake Oliger (Newtown, Conn.) recorded the only hits of the game for Babson, which benefitted from 10 bases on balls. Oliger, seniors Edward Lehr (Byram Township, N.J.) and Nicholas Browne (Mount Laurel, N.J.), and junior Alex DiMartino (Mahwah, N.J.) all walked twice, while DiMartino and first-year Thomas Lapham (Charlestown, Mass.) each had an RBI.

Graduate student Mark Joao (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) and sophomores Jason Bean (Middleboro, Mass.) and Eduardo Martinez (Southwick, Mass.) recorded two hits apiece for the Pride. Fellow sophomore Dakota Aldrich (Ellington, Conn.) did not make it out of the second inning and suffered the loss to fall to 1-2 on the year after giving up two runs on five walks.

Aldrich walked the bases loaded in the top of the second and then issued his fourth walk of the frame to DiMartino, which brought home Oliger with the game's first run. Lapham followed with a sacrifice fly to left that scored junior Matthew Valente (Wyckoff, N.J.) for a 2-0 advantage.

The Green and White added to the lead an inning later as Harrington walked with two outs, advanced to third on Oliger's opposite-field single, and then raced home when Oliger stole second to extend the margin to 3-0. The lead was more than enough for Allard and the Babson relief corps, which did not allow a runner past second until the seventh.

Allard gave up a double to Bean and an infield single to Martinez to begin the frame before Gallagher came out of the bullpen to quell the threat with a pop up, a strike out and a ground out.

Both teams are back in action on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. as Babson hosts UMass Boston, while Springfield takes on Keene State.

• The Beavers are 33-22 all-time against Springfield and have won 11 straight in the series going back to 2014.
• Babson's two hits are its fewest since also being limited to two in a 6-0 loss to MIT in the second game of a NEWMAC Tournament semifinal series back on April 30, 2016.
• Wednesday's shutout was the third in 10 conference games this spring for the Beavers.
