Game Preview: Women's Lacrosse vs. Skidmore

THE SERIES
Babson and Skidmore will meet for the fifth time on Saturday afternoon in a series that dates back to 2003. The Beavers and Thoroughbreds have split their previous four matchups with the last three having been decided by a single goal.

LAST MEETING
Sophomore Taylor Herrmann scored three times and senior Charlotte O'Halloran dished out four assists, but Babson was unable to overcome a four-goal deficit and suffered a 10-9 loss at Skidmore on March 5, 2017, in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Francesca Giovanucci '17 scored twice and Lauren Drakeley scooped up four ground balls and caused two turnovers for the Beavers. Juniors Cas Szawajkowski and Anna Boogaerts both finished with two goals and one assist for the Thoroughbreds.

LAST BABSON WIN
McKenzie Tucci '16 scored three times and Emily Bresnahan '17 finished with two goals and two assists as Babson College held on to defeat visiting Skidmore College,11-10, on March 5th, 2016 at MacDowell Field. Kiley Fischer '17 and Francesca Giovanucci '17 each scored twice for the Beavers, whileTyler Phillips finished with five goals, four draw controls, four caused turnovers and three ground balls to lead the Thoroughbreds.

SCOUTING THE THOROUGHBREDS
Skidmore (1-0) kicked off the season with a 19-2 win against Mount Holyoke on Wednesday. Szwajkowski led a list of nine goal scorers by tallying five times to go along with two assists for seven points. First-year Shelby Boland added four goals and classmate Sophia Hagstromer added three goals and two assists for the Thoroughbreds, who led 13-1 at the half. One of nine returning starters, Szwajkowski (69-9-78) set a program record for goals last season and is riding a 34-game points streak. Sophomore goalkeeper Caroine Kenlon, who made six saves in the season opener, posted a 12.99 goals against average and a .426 save percentage for Skidmore, which went 12-6 and reached the Liberty League title game last spring.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
Babson (2-0) defeated Plymouth State 17-9 on Wednesday at MacDowell Field. Senior Julia Harrigan scored three times and led all players with 11 draw controls, while juniors Lexi Lenaghan and Riley Buonagurio combined for seven goals for the Beavers, who outscored the Panthers 11-4 in the second half. Lenaghan (7-6-13) leads the squad in goals and assists, Harrigan (6-1-7) is first on the team with 12 draw controls, and Herrmann (2-2-4) is second in assists. First-year Sara O'Connor has scooped up six ground balls and caused two turnovers, while sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Phelan boasts a 6.78 goals against average and a .586 save percentage in two starts.

OPTIONS ON THE ATTACK
Babson, which is averaging 17.5 goals over its first two outings, features six players with three or more goals, and has gotten at least one tally from 13 different players in two games. The Green and White has also recorded an assist on 14 of its 24 goals from the run of play.

CASHING IN ON FREE POSITION CHANCES
The Beavers have converted 11-of-17 free position shots (.647) over their first two contests, which includes a 5-of-6 effort in the second half against Plymouth State on Wednesday. Harrigan is a perfect 5-of-5, while Lenaghan has scored three times in five opportunities.

PRODUCING AGAINST THE THOROUGHBREDS
O'Halloran, who extended her points streak to 14 games with a first-half goal on Wednesday, has notched three goals and seven assists for 10 points in three career games against Skidmore.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
The Beavers are 16-1 since the start of last year when leading at halftime.
