A 1994 graduate of Babson, Tonya Strange enters her fifth seasonas head coach of her alma mater's women's volleyball program. Thisis the second stint as coach for Strange, who guided the Beavers toa record of 39-36 from 1995 to 1997. In her first four seasons backat the helm, she had led the squad to 48 victories, includinga stellar 16-12 mark and the program's first-ever ECAC New EnglandTournament bid in 2008.
In addition to volleyball, Strange has served as an assistantgirls basketball coach at both Lincoln-Sudbury Regional and morerecently Hudson Catholic. Over the last 11 years, she has alsoworked for DataStar, Inc. in Waltham, where she has served as theDirector of Operations since December of 2002.
A four-year member of the Beavers' volleyball squad, Strangehelped lead Babson to the most successful stretch in programhistory. During her career, the team posted a magnificent record of74-30, including a brilliant 21-7 mark and a third place finish inthe NEW 8 in 1993 - the team's finest season ever. She is one ofonly six players to earn All-Conference honors at Babson, and isthe only player to earn league accolades in multiple seasons.
Strange was also a standout on Babson's history-making women'sbasketball team, which posted a record of 89-22 and earnedback-to-back trips to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 during hercareer. She is one of only 12 players in Babson history to score1,000 points, as she amassed 1,009 points as well as 640 reboundsin four seasons.
