Mark Butkiewicz was hired as the assistant director of recreation and wellness programming in August 2023.
Butkiewicz comes to Babson with experience in several facets of athletic operations including his most recent role as the regional director of New England for Swarm Basketball in Cranston, Rhode Island, where he managed a region that consisted of 30 teams. He also served as assistant director for Tri-State for Zero Gravity Basketball, where he organized events with 150-265 AAU basketball teams and operated 20 tournaments within the Connecticut and New York region.
Butkiewicz also has experience as a sales associate for the Worcester Red Sox and as an operations associate with Select Events Basketball, LLC, where he helped organize more than 20 tournaments with more than 100 teams throughout the country. He was previously an operations associate with the Massachusetts Pirates, promoting the team's brand at numerous marketing events.
A 2020 graduate of Temple University, where he received a degree in Sport and Recreation Management, Butkiewicz served as a student manager and operations intern with the Temple football program, managing practice and game-day operations and assisting with all projects related to football operations. He also served as an in-game marketing assistant for Temple Basketball.
Butkiewicz got started in college athletics as a tickets and facility operations associate at Holy Cross in 2017-18. He served as a coach for the St. Spyridon Youth Basketball team from 2020-23 and received a Gold coaching license from USA Basketball in 2020.
