Luisa Duffield was promoted to general manager at the Babson Skating Center in July 2021. She had served as the skating program manager since coming to Babson in November 2019.
In her new role as general manager, Duffield will oversee full and part-time staff, serve as the leader and coordinator of the Babson Skating School, and is responsible for handling budget projections, client services and marketing and communication. In her previous role as the skating program manager, Duffield was responsible for all day-to-day operations of the skating programs, including hiring and training coaches, staff and customer relations, overseeing on-ice instruction, coordinating private ice rentals and events, and managing the rink schedule.
A native of California, Duffield earned her B.A. in journalism from California State University, Northridge, and has more than three decades of coaching, program management and administrative experience. She is a member of Learn to Skate USA and Ice Sports Industry, is a certified trained professional for the U.S. Center for SafeSport and a certified double-goal coach with the Positive Coaching Alliance.
Duffield, who skated competitively as a teen, also appeared in professional shows prior to getting into coaching. Her daughter, Jordyn, is a member of the Rutgers University gymnastics team.
