Kent Cherrington

Kent Cherrington joined the Babson athletics staff in November 2021 as the Athletics Communications and Operations Coordinator and moved into the role of Assistant Director of Athletics Communications in 2025.

An experienced communications professional with more than four decades of experience, Cherrington came to Babson after serving as the Lasell University Director of Athletics Communications from 2018-21. He was responsible for the publicity of each of the Lasers' 17 programs, maintaining the athletics website and social media platforms, and supervising a staff of more than 30 student workers and interns as the home events coordinator.

In addition to his communications and game management responsibilities, Cherrington also served as the department's scheduling coordinator.

Prior to Lasell, Cherrington was the sports information director at Plymouth State University from 1994-2017. He handled all publicity, statistics and press releases for the Panthers' 24 Division III programs, assisted with home event management responsibilities, and was the department's Hall of Fame committee chair.

Along with his day-to-day duties, Cherrington was one of the first to create a comprehensive intercollegiate website in 1997, and Plymouth State was one of the first institutions to embrace intercollegiate athletics web streaming in 2010.

Cherrington, who was a member of the swimming & diving program, earned his bachelor of science degree in sports communications from the University of New Hampshire. He served as a student assistant in the Wildcats' sports information department before becoming an assistant sports information director at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, from 1984-92.

Cherrington has been a member of the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) since 1984 and was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 2020. He also served as ECAC-SIDA (now East-Comm) President in 2006-07 and was presented with the organization's Irving T. Marsh Award in 2010 for his contributions to the sports information profession and the Pete Nevins Award for Distinguished Achievement in 2023.
