Alexander Jones was named head men's and women's golf coach at Babson College in July 2026.
Jones comes to Babson following a successful three-year stint as the assistant men's and women's golf coach at Denison University in Granville, Ohio, from 2023-26. He was part of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Coaching Staff of the Year in 2024 and 2025, as the women captured three consecutive conference titles, and helped the Big Red make three NCAA Championship appearances where they finished 16th in 2024 and 2025 and 19th back in May.
The Denison women captured six tournament titles and Jones helped mentor 10 All-NCAC selections and six Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-Great Lakes Region honorees.
On the men's side, Jones helped the Big Red move up nearly 30 spots in the Scoreboard Division III rankings while improving the team's adjusted scoring average in each of the last three seasons. Denison placed fourth at the 2025 NCAC Championship before finishing sixth this past season.
An experienced teacher, Jones served as the PGA Head Golf Professional and Director of Instruction for the PGA Golf Management Program at his alma mater, Methodist University in Fayetteville, N.C., from 2019-23. Over four years, he taught over a 1,000 individual lessons in addition to serving as a volunteer assistant coach for the men's golf team as the Monarchs won the 2022 Division III national championship.
Jones helped mentor 13 Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-America selections at perennial powerhouse Methodist, which came in second at the 2021 NCAA Championship and placed third in 2022.
Along with his collegiate coaching experience, Jones served as a PGA teaching golf professional at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, N.Y., for 10 months beginning in March 2017. He also spent a year as a PGA assistant golf professional at the Chevy Chase Club in Chevy Chase, Md., after graduating from Methodist in 2014. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native also earned his MBA from the University of Cincinnati in 2019.
An accomplished player, Jones was a member of the PGA Golf Management program at Methodist and played one season for the Monarchs (2012-13). He also qualified for the 2010 Ohio Amateur and the 2017 Long Island Open in addition to advancing to the semifinals of the 2020 Carolinas PGA Cape Fear Match Play event.
Jones stepped away from golf to participate in The World Race, an 11-month missionary project, in 2016. He provided peer-to-peer mentorship, oversaw fundraising, taught English as a second language, and led discussions on faith in 11 countries.
