Angela Ritchie was hired as an assistant men's and women's swimming & diving coach in October 2025.
Ritchie joins Babson College with an elite competitive and academic resume following a standout career at James Madison University. Ritchie graduated from James Madison University in 2025 with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies, emphasizing Public Relations, and a minor in Human Resources.
A back-to-back Sun Belt Conference Champion and first-team All–Sun Belt Conference honoree, Ritchie captured the 2025 Sun Belt Championship title in the 500 freestyle, posting a time of 4:52.14. She also earned silver in the 200 butterfly at the 2025 Sun Belt Championships with a time of 2:00.07, while finishing sixth in the 200 freestyle (1:51.32). In recognition of her academic excellence, she was named to the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner’s List, the Dean’s List (Fall 2023 - Spring 2025), and earned JMU Athletic Director’s Scholar-Athlete honors.
During the 2023–24 season as a junior, Ritchie was named All–Sun Belt Second Team. She claimed silver in the 500 freestyle at the Sun Belt Championships with a time of 4:53.29, placed fourth in the 400 IM (4:25.39), and finished fifth in the 200 butterfly (2:03.26). She later served as team captain for the 2024–25 season, demonstrating leadership both in and out of the pool.
As a sophomore in 2022–23, Ritchie earned All-CCSA honors in the 200 butterfly, taking bronze at the CCSA Championships with a time of 2:00.39. She also placed fifth in the 500 freestyle (4:55.43) and sixth in the 400 IM (4:24.21).
A native of Richmond, Va., Ritchie attended Monacan High School, graduating in 2021. She was a three-time Virginia state champion in the 100 backstroke and a state champion in the 200 freestyle, helping lead Monacan to back-to-back Class 4 state championships. She was also named the United States Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete of the Year, recognizing her athletic excellence, leadership, and character.
