Joe Harty

Joe Harty enters his second season as an assistant coachafter three separate and highly successful stints as head coach ofthe Babson ski program.

A collegiate ski coach for more than two decades, Harty firstserved as the Beavers' head coach from 1988 to 1995, guiding themen to Thomson Division league championships in 1989 and 1990 andthe women to Thomson titles in 1988 and 1991. In addition, hecoached regional qualifiers for eight consecutive seasons between1988 and 1995 while also leading the men's team to a nationalchampionship appearance in 1989 and the women to the national meetin 1991. He was named USCSA Eastern Division Coach of the Year in1989.

After leaving to coach the men's and women's teams at Harvardfor four years, Harty returned to Babson to coach both programs in2001-02. Over the next seven years, he helped launch one of themen's team's most successful stretches ever, posting five regionalqualifications and three USCSA National Championship appearances.He guided the Beavers to regional bids in 2003 and 2004, and thentook them to nationals in 2005 and 2006. During the lattertrip, Babson recorded its best finish ever by placing sixth overallin the combined standings. Harty once again led the Beavers to amagnificent campaign in 2008, as they placed 10th at the NationalChampionships – their third national appearance in fouryears. Harty then returned to Babson in 2010-11, when he guided theBeavers to their fourth straight trip to nationals, where theyplaced 12th overall.
