Katherine McDonough

Katherine McDonough is in her second season as Babson College women’s lacrosse assistant coach in 2025-26.

After helping the team to a 15-4 record, the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season title, and an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, the Babson staff, including head coach Michelle Smith, McDonough and other assistants were recognized as the NEWMAC Coaching Staff of the Year.

A veteran coach with over a decade of experience, McDonough came to Babson in 2024 following seven seasons at Stonehill College from 2016-23. Following a year and a half as an assistant coach, she was elevated to the role of associate head coach for the Skyhawks in January 2018.

McDonough was responsible for recruiting, practice and in-game coaching, player development and film breakdown while helping Stonehill go 53-34 from 2017-22. The Skyhawks advanced to the Northeast-10 Conference semifinals in 2017 and the quarterfinals in 2019 before going 18-3 and capturing conference regular season and tournament championships on the way to reaching the NCAA Division II East Regional final in 2022.

Additionally, McDonough helped Stonehill through a successful transition to Division I going 5-3 in Northeast Conference play in 2023.

McDonough, who was a part of the 2022 NE-10 Coaching Staff of the Year, coached six Division II All-Americans, which includes the 2022 Division II Midfielder of the Year, seven all-region honorees and 17 all-conference selections. Five Skyhawks also earned All-NEC recognition in 2023.

In addition to her collegiate experience, McDonough has been a coach with Achieve Lacrosse and Mass Elite since 2014 and has served as program director and administrator for both since May 2019. She oversees year-round training programs, the creation of practice plans and is responsible for all social media and marketing.

A 2014 graduate of Stonehill, McDonough was a four-year member of the women’s lacrosse team and served as captain during her senior year. She earned Northeast-10 All-Conference honors in both 2013 and 2014 and was named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-North region team in 2014.

Along with her collegiate and club experience, McDonough also served as an assistant varsity girls’ lacrosse coach at Wellesley High School in 2015 and 2016.
