Under the guidance of second-year head coach and future Babson Hall of Famer Bill Rogers '73, the 1979 men’s soccer team delivered the Green and White’s second national title in just five seasons.

Boasting one of the top defenses in program history, the Beavers recorded three of their 12 shutouts in the NCAA Tournament, and conceded just eight goals in 19 matches.

Led by future Babson Hall of Famers Jim Fisher, George Salvitti, and Jim Stento the Green and White blanked North Adams State and rival Brandeis for the second time in less than a month to reach the program’s third NCAA Final Four.

After playing what was then the second longest national semifinal match in Division III history, a 1-0 four-overtime victory over defending national champion Lock Haven, the Beavers defeated Glassboro State (now Rowan) 2-1 behind goals from XXXX in the national final.
