NORTHAMPTON, Mass.—Babson College's top five runners finished just seven seconds apart led by junior Shriya Peddi (Monmouth Junction, N.J.) to help the Beavers come in second at the Ellen O'Neil Invitational on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Smith College. 

The Beavers totaled 55 points to finish behind Smith (15 points), which boasted the top six individual finishers. Springfield (71) came in third behind the Green and White in a preview of next month's New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship course. 

Peddi finished ninth with a time of 25:52, while sophomore Angelina Widmer (Wantagh, N.Y.), who posted a career-best time , and junior Sophia Draxler (Chester, N.J.) were less than a second behind her in 10th and 11th position, respectively. First-year Sumaria Charron (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) placed 12th with a time of 25:58 in her first career 6k race and sophomore Ali Meyers (Darien, Conn.) crossed the finish line in 25:59 to come in 13th overall. 

First-year Tory Meran (Boca Raton, Fla.) ran 27:14 in her 6k debut, which was good for 21st place, senior Taijah Harvey (Concord, Mass.) posted a time of 27:54 to finish 25th and junior Annabelle Svenson (Montclair, N.J.) came in 28th in a time of 28:33. Sophomore Sophia Nakakura (San Francisco, Calif.), who posted a time of 28:55 to finish 30th, was just over a half-second faster and finished one spot better than senior Ava Newton (Danvers, Mass.). 

Following a weekend off, Babson travels to the Keene State Invitational on October 3 at 11 a.m.
