WALTHAM, Mass. — The Babson College men's swimming & diving team finished first in 11 events on the way to opening the season with a commanding 179-121 victory over Bentley University at the Dana Center Pool on Friday afternoon.
Babson won its opening dual meet for the fifth consecutive season and has defeated Bentley in each of the last three seasons, while the Falcons fall to 1-1 on the year.
Seven different competitors recorded event victories for the Beavers, highlighted by senior
David Krol (Grafton, Wis.) and first-year
Thomas Iglar (Marietta, Ga.), who collected two first-place finishes apiece. Krol posted scores of 304.10 on the 1-meter board and 249.90 on the 3-meter board to sweep the diving events, while Iglar claimed the 50-yard freestyle in 21.68 and the 100-yard freestyle in 47.68 in his collegiate debut.
Sophomore
Matthias McFarlane (Trumbull, Conn.) touched the wall first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 58.94, junior
Nathan Huynh (Naperville, Ill.) won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:19.26, and senior
Anthony Taslakov (Sherborn, Mass.) captured the 200-yard individual medley in 2:01.76. Junior
William Iglar (Marietta, Ga.) was victorious in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:57.14, and first-year
Cam Kuhn (McLean, Va.) took first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 52.17.

Thomas Ambelang (Bernardsville, N.J.) win the 200-yard medley relay by more than a second in 1:36.77. Later in the meet, sophomore
Evan Hong (Longmeadow, Mass.) and first-year
Aly Hassanien (Naperville, Ill.) teamed up with Iglar and Kuhn to claim first place in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:12.09.
Hong was the runner-up in both the 100-yard butterfly (52.32) and 200-yard freestyle (1:47.78), while first-year
Dalton Brooks (Lakewood Ranch, Fla.) finished second in both the 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.19) and 200-yard individual medley (2:02.22) in his collegiate debut. Sophomore
Hadi AlDayaa (Chelmsford, Mass.) totaled 217.00 points on the 1-meter board and 203.95 points on the 3-meter board to earn runner-up finishes in both diving events.
William Iglar was the runner-up in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:02.53, Kuhn finished second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.70, McFarlane's time of 48.71 was good for second in the 100-yard freestyle, and Taslakov placed second in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:00.32. Dom Crisafulli (Natick, Mass.) and
Chengetai Zamchiya (Cheverly, Md.) also finished second in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:37.99.
