KEENE, N.H.— Four runners registered their career best times as the Babson College women's cross country team placed 13th out of 27 schools at the Keene State Invitational Saturday morning at the Owl Athletic Complex.
The Beavers totaled 356 points to finish 13th, just behind Endicott (346) and Assumption (349) and ahead of Saint Anselm (375). Babson was third among the six New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) teams, trailing fourth-place Wellesley (157) and fifth-place Smith (186) but ahead of Wheaton (459), Springfield (497), and Mount Holyoke (627). No. 2 Williams (33) edged Bowdoin (54) for the team title with No. 6 Tufts (138) rounding out the top three.
Sophomore
Angelina Widmer (Wantagh, N.Y.) was Babson's top finisher, coming in 57th place out of 244 entries in a career-best time of 24:02, five seconds ahead of junior
Shriya Peddi (Monmouth Junction, N.J.), who finished 65th in 24:07. Sophomore
Ali Meyers (Darien, Conn.) was 83rd in a career-best time of 24:20, classmate
Sumaria Charron (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) finished 95th in a career-best 24:35, and junior
Sophia Draxler (Montclair, N.J.) rounded out Babson's top five, placing 105th in a time of 24:41.
Sophomore
Sophia Nakakura (San Francisco, Calif.) posted a time of 25:10 to finish 132nd, classmate
Anastatia Marich (Mequon, Wis.) was 139th in 25:27, and junior
Annabelle Svenson (Montclair, N.J.) crossed the finish line in 158th in 25:58.
Babson's final three runners were senior
Taijah Harvey (Concord, Mass.), 174th in 26:27; junior
Ariana Van Ormer (Aliquippa, Pa.), 209th in 27:36; and first-year
Mary Elizabeth Steinrotter (Potsdam, N.Y.), 224th in a season-best time of 28:37.
The Beavers will wrap up the regular season at the Connecticut College Invitational on October 17 at Harkness Park in Waterford, Conn.
