No. 21 Women’s Lacrosse Downs Clark for Seventh Straight Victory, 24-1

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Junior Kathryn Blake (Medfield, Mass.) matched her career high with eight points and classmate Clare Connolly (Hanover, Mass.) finished with two goals while matching her season high with 19 draw controls to help 21st-ranked Babson College cruise to a 24-1 win over visiting Clark University in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's lacrosse action on Tuesday afternoon at rainy MacDowell Field.

With its seventh consecutive win, Babson improves to 8-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play. Clark has dropped three straight games to slip to 5-6 overall and 1-4 in the NEWMAC.

Senior Nicole Darveau (Sudbury, Mass.) scored four times and graduate student Lily Ives (Chappaqua, N.Y.) contributed two goals and two assists for the Beavers. Senior Genevieve Bushey (Lakeville, Conn.) and juniors Kylie McCarthy (Danvers, Mass.) and Solana Fahey (North Andover, Mass.) chipped in with a pair of goals to lead a group of a dozen different Beavers who got into the scoring act. Graduate student Anna Costello (Milton, Mass.) caused four turnovers and grabbed three ground balls and first-year goalie Morgan McGahan (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J.) made three second half saves for the Green and White.

Senior Greer McCarty (White River Jct., Vt.) scored the lone goal for the visitors, with an assist from junior Erin Lucas (Ludlow, Mass.). McCarty also controlled three draws and picked up two ground balls and Lucas caused three turnovers and collected two draw controls and two ground balls in the setback.

Connolly won all 14 draws in the opening quarter and Blake totaled five goals and three assists in the stanza to help the Green and White build a 13-0 advantage. Blake and Darveau combined for six of the first nine goals, junior Michaela Downer (North Andover, Mass.) made it 10-0 at the 6:45 mark and Blake scored twice more in addition to setting up Ives' second tally over the final six minutes of the period.

Connolly scored twice to start the second and Bushey got on the board with 2:29 to go before halftime to give the Beavers a 16-0 lead at the break. Darveau notched her fourth marker of the afternoon less than three minutes into the third and Fahey scored back-to-back goals just over four minutes apart extending the margin to 19-0.

McCarthy scored twice for Babson to make it 22-0 before McCarty got Clark on the board converting a feed from Lucas with 7:30 to play in the contest. First-Year Mia Fierro (Oswego, N.Y.) scored with 3:58 to go and senior Eileen Manning (Needham, Mass.) notched her first goal of the year in the closing seconds for the final margin.

Babson returns to action on Thursday when it travels to Roger Williams at 4 p.m., while Clark takes on Smith at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

GAME NOTES
• The Beavers are 4-0 all-time against the Cougars, who started their program in 2021.
• Babson's 16 first-half goals are its second highest total of the year.
• The Green and White have won 14 straight games against NEWMAC foes dating back to last season and are 45-4 in regular season games against conference opponents since the start of 2016.
