Charlotte Raymond (Wrentham, Mass.) finished the day with three hits and three runs batted in to help visiting Babson College split a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) softball doubleheader with Smith College on Sunday afternoon.
The Beavers won the opener 8-2 before suffering a 7-3 loss to the Pioneers in game two. Babson, which has won five of its last seven games, is 13-14 overall and 4-6 in conference play, while Smith moves to 13-8-1 overall and 5-3 in the NEWMAC.

Emily Walsh (Flemington, N.J.) went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBI, graduate student
Michaela Russell (Boston, Mass.) was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, two stolen bases and two runs scored, and classmate
Cassidy Musco (Walpole, Mass.) finished 2-for-4 with a double and a stolen base for the Beavers. Raymond doubled and drove in two runs, sophomore
Sophia Pak (New Rochelle, N.Y.) singled twice and senior
Moira O'Reilly (Columbus, Ohio) struck out 11 while giving up two runs on three hits over 7.0 innings to improve to 8-7 with the victory.
Junior Taylor Ang (San Diego, Calif.) and senior CeCe Alaniz (Bakersfield, Calif.) both doubled and knocked in a run for the Pioneers, while sophomore Emilie Doty (Arlington, Va.) dropped to 7-4 in the circle after allowing six earned runs on 10 hits over 6.0 innings.

Jackie Paglieri (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) and Raymond came through with a two-run double to left two batters later. Ang got Smith back within 3-1 with an RBI double in the bottom of the frame but Walsh scored on an error in the top of the fifth and then cleared the bases with a two-out triple to center in the sixth to push the Beaver's lead to 7-1.

Athena Hadjipanayis (Rye, N.Y.) brought home Musco for Babson's final run with an RBI ground out in the seventh.

Raymond and first-year
Ruby Madia (Princeton Junction, N.J.) both went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Hadjipanayis added a double to lead the Beavers seven-hit attack. First-year
Katie Vlacich (Concord, N.H.) shouldered the loss to drop to 5-7 overall after allowing seven runs over 6.0 innings.
Senior Juno Shantz (Seattle, Wash.) went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, classmate Lexi Balam (Lyndeborough, N.H.) was 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI and graduate student Molly Taketa (Redmond, Wash.) doubled and scored twice for the Pioneers. Senior Lucy Helms (Alameda, Calif.) went the distance in the circle allowing just two earned runs while scattering seven hits to improve to 3-3 on the year.
Raymond knocked in junior
Sara Moore (Kennett Square, Pa.) with a two-out single in the top of the first and Hadjipanayis led off the second with a double and later scored on an error to give the Green and White a 2-0 advantage. Smith pulled even thanks to doubles by Balam and Taketa in the third and went in front for good on Balam's two-run double with two outs in the bottom of the fourth.
Shantz made it 5-2 with a solo homer in the fifth and came through with a two-out, two-run single in the sixth as the Pioneers built a five-run lead.
Babson returns to action next Friday when it welcomes Wellesley to Alumni Field for a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m., while Smith travels to Keene State for a pair of games on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
GAME NOTES
• The Beavers are now 36-33 all-time against Smith.
• Babson's six extra-base hits in game one are its most since May 5 of last season when it also recorded six in a 10-6 NEWMAC Tournament victory over WPI.
• The Green and White is 12-1 this season when allowing two runs or fewer.
• Prior to Sunday, the Beavers had been unbeaten this season when scoring in the first inning.
