BABSON PARK, Mass.—Babson College women's swimming & diving senior Kendall Garvey (Wilbraham, Mass.) was selected as the first Dunn Gaherin's Scholar-Athlete of the Week of the winter season on Wednesday. 

Garvey finished second with a time of 18:40.07 in the 1650-yard freestyle and placed fourth in the A final of the 500 free with a season-best time of 5:25.09 last weekend at Roger Williams' Fisher Invitational. She has recorded seven top-three finishes in five meets this fall, which includes winning both the 500 free and 1000 free in the Beavers' victory over Stonehill back on November 15. 

Babson's school-record-holder in the 1650 free after posting a time of 18:16.30 at last February's NEWMAC Championships, Garvey also record the best times of her career in the 100 free (57.16), 500 free (5:24.90) and 100 free (11:05.28) at last year's conference meet. She is a two-time NEWMAC Academic All-Conference selection and also earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors last winter. 

Babson, which is 5-3 in dual-meet competition this season, returns to action against Amherst on January 3. 

Started in 2020, the Dunn Gaherin's Scholar-Athlete of the Week award honors junior and senior student-athletes that carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher.
