Accomplishments: One of the school's most successful golfers, Bruce Chalas helped lead the Beavers to appearances in the NCAA Championship Tournament in 1971 and 1972. The 1971 appearance was the program's first ever at the national championships. On the regional level, Babson finished second in the New England Intercollegiate Championships in 1971 and 1972, each year losing by a single stroke. During Chalas' senior season, the team posted one of the finest records in program history with an impressive 11-0-1 mark in match competition. Chalas would continue to enjoy golfing success following his graduate in 1972, qualifying for the U.S. Open, the U.S. Amateur, the U.S. Mid-Amateur, and Bank of Boston PGA Tournament event at Pleasant Valley. He has also won several tournament titles including the New England Amateur.
