Men Finish 19th, Women 24th at NCAA New England Cross Country Championships

BRUNSWICK, Maine- The Babson College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the NCAA New England Championships on Saturday hosted by Bowdoin College. The Beavers came in 19th with 577 points in the men's race and recorded 781 points to place 24th in the women's meet at the Pickard Field Cross Country Course. 

On the men's side, Amherst placed five runners in the top 20, logging 65 points to claim the team title, while Williams recorded 86 points to finish as the runner-up. MIT finished with 87 points to capture the women's the team title, while Middlebury (108 points) came in second.

Senior Matthew Dynan (Reading, Mass.) placed 55th in the men's 8k race turning in a time of 26:15, while first-year Collin Regan (Rochester, N.Y.) finished 71st running 26:35. Junior Samir Arora (Fremont, Calif.) recorded a career best time of 27:27 to come in 130th and sophomore Zach Goldberg (Westford, Mass.) placed 140th crossing the finish line in 27:42. 

Junior Nicholas Virkler (Lincoln, Mass.) turned in a personal best 28:30 to place 181st, senior Jake Fishkin (Hagerstown, Md. ) ran a season-best 30:58, and junior Nando Baumann (Heiden, Switzerland) limped through the race to finish in a time of 31:06.

Sophomore Emma Cavanaugh (Southbury, Conn.) was the top finisher for the women turning an 89th-place performance with a personal-best time of 23:45 on the 6k course. Junior Stephanie Rodriguez (Guatemala City, Guatemala) placed 138th after crossing the finish line with a time of 24:26, which was 25 seconds ahead of first-year Hannah Piispanen (Winchester, Mass.) who placed 170th.

Sophomore Camille Lewis (Cheshire, Conn.) ran a time of 25:05, senior Chaela Hood (Plymouth, Mass.) finished three seconds behind her, and sophomore Caroline Winicki (Middlebury, Conn.) recorded a time of 26:07. Rounding out the Beavers' harriers was senior Emily MacDonald (East Sandwich, Mass.), who turned in a personal-best time of 26:12 in her final collegiate race.
