Babson Volleyball Welcomes Incoming Recruits For 2012-13 Season
BABSON PARK, Mass. -- The Babson College volleyball program has unveiled its list of seven recruited athletes from the Class of 2016 who will be competing for spots on this year's roster, head coach Eric Neely announced on Monday.
Coming off an outstanding 17-12 campaign in 2011 - the program's highest win total since 2002 - the Beavers will look to their incoming class to help fill the void left by the loss of all-time kills leader Meg Flaherty '11, who graduated as the only three-time All-Conference player in team history. Despite Flaherty's departure, Neely feels that the infusion of incoming talent should enable his program to continue to improve this fall.
"We are very excited about this group of recruits and expect to see an immediate impact on the court," Neely said. "This outstanding group of student-athletes makes our team better and deeper across the board and we can't wait to get started this fall."
The seven recruited first-years on this year's team are:
Mary Donahue – 6'1" Outside Hitter from Braintree, MA (Mass Patriots Volleyball Club)... All-State Team... Bay State Conference All-Star... Patriot Ledger All-Scholastic... Community Newspapers Superteam.
Mary Martin – 6'2" Opposite/Middle from East Haddam, CT (Husky Volleyball Club)... First Team All-Shoreline Conference.
Angela Price – 5'5" setter from Medway, MA (SMASH)... Named All-State in both her junior and senior seasons.
Krissy Robertson – 6'0" setter/opposite from Dedham, MA (SMASH)... Catholic Conference All-Star from her sophomore through senior seasons... Won the New England Volleyball Championships as the setter for the SMASH 17s.
Paige Sawyer – 6'2" Middle from Canton, MA (Mass Juniors)... Named Catholic Conference All-Star.
Elizabeth Sullivan – 5'7" Defensive Specialist from Quincy, MA (Mass Patriots)... All-State Team... Boston Globe All-Scholastic... 2010 & 2011 Patriot Ledger All-Scholastic... Patriot League All-Star... Boston Herald All- Scholastic in both volleyball and tennis.
