Volleyball Collects Second Win At WCSU Tourney With Sweep Of Merchant Marine Academy

DANBURY, Conn. -– The Babson College volleyball team picked up its second victory of the day at the Colonial Classic Tournament at Western Connecticut State University on Saturday afternoon, as the Beavers swept the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, 3-0, at Feldman Arena. With the 25-15, 25-15, 25-20 win, Babson is now 14-12 on the season.

After spearheading a spectacular comeback from two sets down in a 3-2 win over host WCSU earlier in the day, senior captain Meg Flaherty was at it again in the nightcap, posting a match-high 13 kills. Junior captain Kathleen Lynch also had another big match, dishing out 23 assists to go with two blocks, while sophomore libero Karla Flores chipped in with 12 digs.

Senior captain Alexa Untermann, who missed the team's first 24 matches with an injury suffered during the preseason, made her successful return to the Beavers' lineup this weekend, following up a strong performance against WCSU with two aces in the win over USMMA.

For the Merchant Marine Academy, Jessica Tyack led the attack with seven Kills, Miranda Walz added 15 assists, Michelle Danhof tallied eight digs, and Sara Ellenberger collected a match-high five blocks.

Following the conclusion of the tournament, Flaherty was named to the event's All-Tournament Team. The Beavers officially placed third at the event behind WCSU and Wesleyan.
