O'Neill Becomes Sixth Babson Volleyball Player To Earn All-Conference Honors; Two Others Also Recognized
The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its 2008 postseason awards this week, and Babson College junior Caitlin O'Neill (Lynnfield, Mass.) became just the sixth woman in program history to earn All-Conference honors when she was named to the All-NEWMAC Second Team. In addition, junior Shanna Glassner (Orland Park, Ill.) and sophomore Laura Duston (Nashua, N.H.) were named to the Academic All-Conference Team for the Beavers, who enjoyed one of their best seasons in over a decade this fall.

Babson Volleyball Falls To UNE, 3-0, In ECAC New England Quarterfinals
Making their first-ever postseason appearance, the fifth-seeded Babson College Beavers fell to fourth-seeded UNE, 3-0, in the quarterfinals of the ECAC New England Women’s Volleyball Tournament at Babson’s Staake Gymnasium on Wednesday night. As a result, the Beavers see one of their best seasons in over a decade come to a close with a record of 16-12. First-year Meg Flaherty (Hollis, N.H.) capped off her magnificent rookie season with seven kills and three digs for Babson, while junior Caitlin O’Neill (Lynnfield, Mass.) also recorded seven kills to go with two service aces. Junior libero Shanna Glassner (Orland Park, Mass.) was brilliant in the back for the Beavers, finishing with a match-high 21 digs, while sophomore Alexa Untermann (Honolulu, Hawaii) chipped in with four kills, two aces, and two block assists.

Volleyball Earns First-Ever Postseason Bid, Seeded Fifth In ECAC Tournament
After posting its best record since 1993, the Babson College women's volleyball team added to its historical season on Monday, as the Beavers were selected to compete in the ECAC New England Tournament for the first time ever. It marks the first postseason bid in the 29-year history of the program for Babson, which will be seeded fifth in the tourney. With the fourth-seeded University of New England unable to host, the Beavers will now host the Nor'Easters in the ECAC Quarterfinals on Wednesday, November 12, at 7 p.m. The winner of that matchup will advance to the semifinals at top-seeded Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday, November 15, at a time to be determined.

Babson Volleyball Falls To #3 MIT, 3-1, In NEWMAC Quarterfinals
The Babson College women's volleyball team was knocked out of the NEWMAC Tournament on Tuesday night, as the sixth-seeded Beavers fell to third-seeded MIT, 3-1, in Cambridge. Junior Caitlin O'Neill led Babson with 11 kills in defeat, while classmate Shanna Glassner added a match-high 15 digs. The Beavers (16-11) will now await the announcement of the ECAC Tournament field on Monday, November 10, as they look to earn the first postseason bid in program history.

Babson Volleyball Downs Clark, 3-1, To Earn Highest Regular Season Finish Since 1993
The Babson College women's volleyball team capped off their outstanding regular season with another strong showing on Saturday, as the Beavers defeated visiting Clark University, 3-1, in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matchup at Babson's Staake Gymnasium. With the win, Babson improved to 16-10 overall and 5-4 in the conference and finished in a three-way tie for fourth place in the NEWMAC standings - the program's highest finish since placing third in 1993. Due to tie-breaking procedures, the Beavers will be seeded sixth in the conference tournament and will head to #3 MIT for a quarterfinal match on Tuesday, November 4, at 7 p.m.

Volleyball Dismisses Lasell, 3-0
The Babson College women’s volleyball team recovered from a sluggish start to sweep visiting Lasell College, 3-0, in a non-conference contest on Thursday night. With the win, the Beavers improved to 15-10 on the season, while the Lasers dipped to 9-17. First-year Meg Flaherty (Hollis, N.H.) paced Babson with 12 kills, while junior Caitlin O’Neill (Lynnfield, Mass.) added 10 kills and two block assists. First-year Anna Belz (Bayport, N.Y.) had a stellar match at the setter position, leading the team with 30 assists while also adding 10 digs, and junior libero Shanna Glassner (Orland Park, Ill.) spearheaded the defense with a team-high 17 digs to go with four service aces.

Volleyball Comes Up Short At Coast Guard, 3-1
The Babson College volleyball team put up another strong fight against a tough conference opponent on Tuesday night, but the Beavers eventually fell to host Coast Guard, 3-1, in New London, Connecticut. Junior Caitlin O’Neill led Babson with a match-high 19 kills, classmate Shanna Glassner led the way with 27 digs, and first-year Anna Belz had a match-high 37 assists.

Volleyball Wins One Of Three At Western Connecticut State Tournament
The Babson College women's volleyball team traveled to Western Connecticut State University this weekend, where the Beavers won one and lost two as part of the Colonials' two-day invitational tournament. Junior libero Shanna Glassner (Orland Park, Ill.) was named to the All-Tournament team after totaling 41 digs, seven kills, and three aces in the three matches, including nine digs in Babson's 3-0 win over Eastern Nazarene on Saturday.

MIT Overpowers Babson Volleyball, 3-0
MIT junior Alex May (Des Moines, Iowa) registered 14 kills to help the visiting MIT Engineers cruise to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-16) victory over the host Babson College Beavers in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match at Staake Gymnasium on Tuesday night. With the win, MIT improved to 17-12 overall and 6-1 in the conference, while Babson slipped to 13-7 overall and 4-3 in league play. Junior Caitlin O’Neill (Lynnfield, Mass.) paced Babson with nine kills and just two errors on 20 attacks in defeat. First-year Meg Flaherty (Hollis, N.H.) added eight kills and four digs, and junior Shanna Glassner (Orland Park, Ill.) recorded a match-high 10 digs from the libero spot. First-year setter Anna Belz (Bayport, N.Y.) also returned after missing six matches with an injury to post 19 assists for the Beavers. In addition to the action on the court, Babson raised $250 dollars for breast cancer research as part of the Side-Out Foundation's nationwide "Dig Pink" initiative.

Senior Amanda Medin (Baltimore, Md.) contributed six kills, while sophomore Ashley Tremblay (Middleton, Mass.) set up the offense with 13 assists. Junior Shanna Glassner (Orland Park, Ill.) played a strong match, registering match highs with 21 digs and three aces.

Babson Field Hockey, Women's Volleyball To Raise Money For Breast Cancer Awareness
Over the next week, the Babson College field hockey and volleyball teams will both host special events in order to raise money as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The field hockey squad will host its "Play 4 The Cure" event during its home game against Mount Holyoke College on Saturday, October 18, at 1 p.m. The women's volleyball team will then host MIT on Tuesday, October 21, at 7 p.m. as part of the Side-Out Foundation's national "Dig Pink" initiative. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to both contests while supporting breast cancer awareness in a variety of ways.

The Babson College volleyball team put up a valiant fight against conference powerhouse Springfield College on Tuesday night, but the Beavers eventually fell in four sets, 3-1. Babson, which dropped to 12-5 overall and 4-2 in the NEWMAC, took the first set 26-24 before falling in three straight, 25-20, 25-19, and 25-15.

The Babson women's volleyball team rebounded from its first defeat since mid-September by recording a 3-0 sweep of host Suffolk University in Boston on Thursday night. With their eight win in the last nine matches, the Beavers improved to 12-4 on the season. Junior tri-captain Becca Rydzik, junior Caitlin O'Neill, and first-year Meg Flaherty each recorded six kills in the victory, while sophomore Ashley Tremblay added 26 assists.

The Babson College women's volleyball team suffered its first conference loss of the season on Tuesday night, as the visiting Beavers fell to crosstown rival Wellesley, 3-0, in a NEWMAC matchup. Junior Caitlin O'Neill and rookie Meg Flaherty led the Beavers at the net, recording nine and eight kills, respectively, while senior tri-captain Amanda Medin chipped in five. Senior tri-captain Ryan DePaoli led Babson with 16 digs, followed by fellow senior tri-captain Becca Rydzik with nine and Flaherty with seven. Junior Shanna Glassner tallied 22 assists in a solid effort in place of injured rookie setter Anna Belz.

The Babson College women’s volleyball team made history on Tuesday night, as the Beavers defeated visiting Mount Holyoke College, 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-23), in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matchup at Staake Gymnasium. With the victory, Babson improved to 11-3 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the NEWMAC – marking the first 4-0 conference start in the 29-year history of the program. Playing for the first time this season without injured first-year setter Anna Belz (Bayport, N.Y.), the Beavers still managed to win in straight sets thanks to the impressive play of junior Caitlin O’Neill (Lynnfield, Mass.), first-year Meg Flaherty (Hollis, N.H.), and senior tri-captain Amanda Medin (Baltimore, Md.). O’Neill led the team with 12 kills, Flaherty chipped in with eight kills, and Medin totaled six kills.

The Babson College women's volleyball team continued its incredible start to the 2008 season with two more victories on Saturday, as the Beavers defeated both UMass-Dartmouth and Roger Williams in grueling five-set battles as part of a Reunion Weekend tri-match at Staake Gymnasium. With the wins, Babson improved to 10-3 on the season, marking the earliest point in the year that the program has reached 10 victories since the Beavers started off 10-2 back in 1993. First-year Meg Flaherty (Hollis, N.H.) once again paced the Green and White with 36 total kills, while fellow rookie Anna Belz (Bayport, N.Y.) collected 93 assists in the two wins. Junior libero Shanna Glassner (Orland Park, Ill.) continued her strong play with 70 digs and junior Caitlin O'Neill (Lynnfield, Mass.) 25 kills.

The Babson College women's volleyball team continued its brilliant start with yet another NEWMAC victory on Tuesday night, as the Beavers took down host Wheaton, 3-1. With just its second win in the last 25 contests against the Lyons, Babson improved to 8-3 on the season and 3-0 in the NEWMAC - marking the team's best conference record since starting 3-0 in the NEW 8 back in 1992. First-year Meg Flaherty (Hollis, N.H.) led the way with 20 kills and 20 digs for Babson, while junior Caitlin O'Neill (Lynnfield, Mass.) added 14 kills.

Junior Caitlin O'Neill (Lynnfield, Mass.) completed a stellar weekend with a magnificent performance against Rhode Island College on Saturday, as the Babson College women's volleyball team earned a split of its final two matches at the Brandeis Invitational. The Beavers lost their opener to Williams, 3-0 (25-5, 25-23, 25-19) but defeated RIC, 3-1 (19-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-22). As a result of her fine play, which included seven kills against Williams and 11 more against RIC, O'Neill was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Volleyball Opens With 3-0 Drubbing Of Elms
The Babson College women’s volleyball team opened its 2008 season with a convincing 3-0 victory over visiting Elms College in a non-conference match on Wednesday night. The Beavers (1-0) topped the Blazers (0-1) by set scores of 25-7, 25-13, and 25-18. First-year Megan Flaherty (Hollis, N.H.) was outstanding in her collegiate debut for Babson, posting a team-high 10 kills to go along with eight digs and a solo block. Junior co-captain Becca Rydzik (Beacon Falls, Conn.) added five kills against just one error in two sets played, while junior Caitlin O’Neill (Lynnfield, Mass.) contributed five kills and a team-leading five service aces.

2008 Season Preview: Women's Volleyball
After posting its highest conference finish in 10 years last fall, the Babson women's volleyball team has high hopes for the 2008 campaign. The Beavers return all but three players from last year's roster, including seven athletes that played at least 70 of the squad's 80 games. Anchoring the lineup this fall will be the veteran quartet of senior tri-captain Ryan DePaoli, junior tri-captain Rebecca Rydzik, junior Caitlin O'Neill, and junior Shanna Glassner . DePaoli led the team and ranked ninth in the league with 321 digs at libero last season, while Rydzik added 129 digs from the opposite position. O'Neill led the Babson attack with 155 kills from the middle spot while also posting a team-high 50 blocks, and Glassner registered 400 assists.
