Raffone, Men's 4x400-Meter Relay Compete at MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—Five members of the Babson College men's and women's track & field teams competed at the MIT Last Chance Meet on Thursday night.

Sophomore Angelina Raffone (Westbrook, Conn.) represented the women's squad by finishing seventh with a time of 12.65 in the 100-meter dash. Her time of 12.53 in the prelims was 0.01 seconds faster than last week at the NEICAAA Championships and good for the second fastest time of her career.

Junior John Decker (Parkland, Fla.) was scratched from the 800-meter run, but did compete with senior JD Greenfield (Reading, Mass.) and sophomores Matthew Dynan (Reading, Mass.) and Gabe Ficht (Newburyport, Mass.) in the 4x400-meter relay. The quartet won the event with a time of 3:17.64, and their season-best time of 3:16.70 has them ranked 23rd in Division III on the eve of the 2017 national championship selections.

Decker will become the second male in program history to qualify for nationals when the selections are announced on Saturday morning as he ranks 10th nationally in the 800 meters. The relay squad has an outside shot to join him when the top 22 teams are named.
