Program History

The women's tennis program at Babson achieved varsity status in 1980. After going 7-9 in its inaugural season, the team exploded onto the New England scene by amassing a combined record of 78-33-1 over the next eight years. Included in that span was the program's only undefeated season in 1983, as the Beavers went a perfect 14-0 to capture their first-ever Massachusetts Division III State Championship.

Following some difficult seasons in the early 1990s, Babson re-established itself as a top program in 1996, when the squad went 11-3. That year, the Beavers placed seventh overall at the New England Division III Championships.

After another tough stretch between 1997 and 1999, the tennis program once again returned to form in 2000, when the team finished at 9-6 to spark one of the most successful stretches in program history. The Beavers posted a 15-3 record and claimed their first-ever NEWMAC Championship in 2001, turned in a fantastic 13-6 campaign in 2002, and then went 16-3 overall, recorded a sweep of the NEWMAC, and claimed its second NEWMAC title in 2003. Babson tied for the second most wins in program history by finishing 15-8 overall in 2007-08, and followed that up with a stellar 13-7 campaign in 2008-09.
