Merz, Roeper Bow Out of ITA New England Championships

MIDDLEBURY, Vt.—Babson College senior Emily Roeper (Belle Mead, N.J.) and junior Carolina Merz (Santa Tecla, El Salvador) wrapped up play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) New England Championships on Saturday at Middlebury College.

Merz, who became Babson player in three seasons to reach the third round of the 64-player singles draw, saw her run come to an end with a 6-1, 6-4 loss to sixth-seeded Christina Yu of Wesleyan. In doubles action, Roeper and Merz dropped an 8-1 decision to the top-seeded pairing of Maggie Dorr and Caroline Garrido of Tufts in the second round of the 32-team draw.

The Beavers will host their lone dual match of the fall on Thursday when they host Merrimack at 2:15 p.m.
