Women's Tennis Falls to No. 40 Swarthmore, 8-1

BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Babson College women's tennis team was defeated by No. 40 Swarthmore College, 8-1, in its opening match of the Wellesley College Nor'easter Bowl on Friday afternoon at Farwell Courts.

Babson, which has dropped four straight matches, is now 10-6 on the year, while Swarthmore improves to 8-3 overall.

Playing without three of its top players, the Beavers struggled against the Garnet. Senior Dina Weick (Woodbridge, Conn.) and junior Kylie Kam (Honolulu, Hawaii) dropped an 8-4 decision at number one doubles, while sophomore Chloe Brandt (Denver, Colo.) and junior Claire Foster (Orange, Conn.) suffered an 8-4 loss at number two. Sophomore Alexandra Blizard (Dover, Mass.) and first-year Emily Roeper (Belle Mead, N.J.) fell 8-6 at number three as Swarthmore built a 3-0 advantage.

Weick earned Babson's lone point of the day with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph at number one singles. Foster won the first set of her match at number four before falling 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8).

Both teams wrap up the two-day tournament on Saturday as the Beavers host Southern New Hampshire at 10 a.m., while Swarthmore travels to Wellesley at 11 a.m.
