Freeman Tabbed NEWMAC Women's Tennis Singles Player of the Week

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Coming off two more victories at the number one singles position, Babson College sophomore Alex Freeman (Medfield, Mass.) has been named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Singles Player of the Week for the first time this season.

Babson's star sophomore went 2-0 at the top spot this week, helping Babson win both of its matches in the process. On Friday, she posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Genevieve Aniello of Wesleyan as part of an 8-1 Beaver victory. The following day, she keyed a 9-0 Babson sweep of NEWMAC-foe Clark by taking her match against Gaby Suriano at number one, 6-0, 6-3.

Like her team, Freeman is now a perfect 4-0 at the number one spot so far this fall. In addition, she has teamed up with junior Sarah Whitaker (Dellwood, Minn.) to post a 3-1 record at the first doubles position.

Freeman and the Beavers will put their unbeaten records on the line against this Saturday, when they host Smith College in a NEWMAC contest beginning at 1 p.m.
