Reilly Tosses One Hitter at Wellesley to Become Softball's All-Time Wins Leader
BABSON PARK, Mass.—Senior Ali Reilly (New Canaan, Conn.) allowed just a leadoff single in the bottom of the first inning and tossed a complete-game shutout to become the Babson College softball program's all-time wins leader in an 8-0 five-inning victory at Wellesley College on March 31.
The victory was the 51st of Reilly's career, helping her pass Babson Athletics Hall of Famer Meghan Gaskell '06 as the Beavers' all-time leader. Gaskell went 50-20 in the circle for the Green and White from 2003-06.
Reilly fanned six and walked three in addition to allowing just one hit. She struck out the side in order in the second and retired nine of the final 10 Blue hitters to close out her first shutout of the year and the 15th of her career. The Green and White took the lead with a two-out run in the second inning and took advantage of a pair of Wellesley errors to plate six runs in the top of the third.
The shutout was one of three on the year for Reilly, who won six of her first seven starts to begin the season. In 24 appearances she went 16-6 with a 1.97 ERA and 112 strikeouts in 145.1 innings.
In addition to graduating as the all-time leader with 60 wins, Reilly also ranks first in program history in appearances (107), starts (86) and innings pitched (600.2).
