Alabama Softball Alum Cassie Reilly-Boccia to Speak at Babson on Sunday

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Babson College head softball coach Dave Canan in conjunction with the Babson Alumni & Friends Network will welcome former Alabama University softball standout Cassie Reilly-Boccia to campus this coming weekend for a series of speaking engagements.

A four-year starter for the Crimson Tide from 2009-12, Reilly-Boccia authored Finished It: A Team's Journey to Winning It All, which takes an inside look at the Alabama program and its journey to winning the 2012 Division I national championship. Through firsthand accounts, the book gives an inside look at the Alabama softball program and the success Reilly-Boccia and her teammates achieved as they relentlessly pursued their goals.

"We are looking forward to having Cassie speak to the team," commented Canan. "Her book was very insightful and talks about the many aspects of culture and tradition that we are implementing at Babson. Her experience of winning a national championship and being part of the premier Division I softball program in the country is very exciting."

A native of Yorktown Heights, N.Y., Reilly-Boccia is a member of the New York Softball Hall of Fame and was selected as the state's Gatorade Player of the Year as a high school senior in 2008. She started 244 career games at Alabama and was a part of two Southeastern Conference (SEC) titles and three trips to the College World Series.

After speaking with the Babson softball squad on Saturday, Reilly-Boccia will hold an open event that includes a book signing and brunch following the speaking program on Sunday that begins at 10 a.m. in the Needham Wellesley Room in Olin Hall. The event cost is $15 per group, which includes a $5 donation to the Babson Athletics Excellence Fund.
