BABSON PARK, Mass. -- Babson College softball sophomores Jackie Enos (Taunton, Mass.) and Catie Funk (Scarborough, Maine) garnered more postseason honors on Tuesday, as both were selected to the ECAC New England All-Star Second Team at their respective positions.
This marked the third All-Region honor of the season for Enos, who was also named to the NFCA All-New England First Team and the NEISCA All-New England Second Team at the second base position. Also an All-Region honoree in her freshman season, Enos followed up her impressive rookie campaign by batting .375 with 42 runs, 26 RBIs, and nine stolen bases this past spring. Her 42 runs scored tied Funk's 2011 total for the most ever in one season by a Babson softball player.
This was the second regional award of the year for Funk, who was also named All-New England Second Team by the NFCA. A Third Team All-Region selection a year ago, the star shortstop enjoyed one of the greatest offensive seasons in program history this spring, hitting .446 with 58 hits, 21 doubles, eight homers, 42 runs scored and 41 RBIs. She led the NEWMAC in almost every offensive category, including slugging percentage (.838) and on-base percentage (.493). She set a new program record for homers in a season, topped her own school mark for doubles in a season, tied with Enos for the most runs scored in a season, and fell just seven RBIs short of matching Colleen Kelly's school record for RBIs in a season.
With Enos and Funk anchoring the middle infield, Babson finished 23-19 this past spring - the program's eighth straight season with 20 or more victories.
