BABSON PARK, Mass.—Following a fourth consecutive third place finish and a trip to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament semifinals last fall, Babson College women's soccer coach Nellie Pineault announced her team's 2018 schedule on Monday.
The Beavers, who have finished at .500 or better in each of the last 14 seasons, will open with five straight matches away from home. The Green and White kicks off the year with a pair of games in the Chicago suburbs as it faces Illinois College on August 31 and Aurora on September 2. The trip to the midwest is followed by tests at Bowdoin on September 5, Eastern Connecticut State on October 8 and UMass Boston on October 11.
Babson takes on perennial national power Brandeis in its home opener on September 15 to begin a stretch that includes seven of its next nine games at Hartwell-Rogers Field. The Beavers will host Clark in their league opener on September 22, which is followed by home fixtures against Wheaton on September 29 and WPI on October 2.
The Green and White follows a road trip to Coast Guard on October 6 by welcoming Springfield (October 9) and Smith (October 13) to Hartwell-Rogers Field. The Beavers hit the road for games at defending NEWMAC champion MIT (October 16), Emerson (October 20) and Wellesley (October 23) before returning home for their regular season finale against Mount Holyoke on October 27.
The top seven teams qualify for the conference tournament, which begins with quarterfinal matches on October 30. The semifinals will be held on November 1, and the highest remaining seed will host the championship match on November 3.
