Beggan Named to United Soccer Coaches All-New England Third Team

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Babson College senior Colleen Beggan (Medfield, Mass.) continued to rack up postseason awards as she was named to the United Soccer Coaches Division III All-New England third team on Tuesday afternoon.

A first-team All-New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) selection, Beggan garnered the first all-region award of her career after starting all 20 matches at center back for the Beavers. She helped lead a defense that recorded five shutouts and conceded one goal or less in eight of their final 10 games.

Beggan started 61 of 79 career matches, which includes the final 49 games of her career dating back to the end of the 2015 campaign, and notched one goal and four assists for six points. She was a part of the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance as a sophomore and will conclude her college career by taking part in the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl on Saturday afternoon at Merrimack College.

Babson went 6-1-2 in the month of the October and wrapped up the 2017 season at 9-8-3 overall after falling to Springfield in a NEWMAC Tournament semifinal.
