BABSON PARK, Mass.—Junior goalkeeper Melina Kapotsis (Watertown, Mass.) made four saves as Babson College and visiting Coast Guard Academy played to a 0-0 double overtime draw in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's soccer action at Hartwell-Rogers Field on Saturday afternoon.
With its second tie in the last three matches, Babson is now 7-3-3 overall and 2-2-2 in conference play, while Coast Guard is 5-7-1 on the year and 2-2-2 in the league.
The Beavers held a 24-8 advantage in shots for the game, but were stymied by the Bears' junior goalkeeper, junior Holly Moore (Pittsfield, Mass.). Moore stopped a season-high 11 shots, including eight during the second half and overtime to keep the game scoreless.
After having four shots saved by Moore in the final 10 minutes of regulation, Babson had two good scoring opportunities in the second overtime. Junior Rachael Kantor (Westfield, Mass.) collected the ball just inside the box and hit a hard shot that just went wide of the right post with 3:53 to go. Just over a minute later, senior Mika Cucullo (South Salem, N.Y.) ripped a blast from 10 yards out, but was denied as Moore made a sprawling save.
Babson will return to action next Saturday when it travels to Clark in a 1 p.m. start while Coast Guard will be at Mount Holyoke on Tuesday night for a 6 p.m. match.
