  • Babson Finishes Fourth In NEWMAC Presidents Cup Women's Standings

    BABSON PARK, Mass.—After winning a pair of regular season titles and a tournament championship, along with reaching the finals in two other sports, the Babson College women finished fourth in the inaugural New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Presidents Cup standings.
  • Babson Honors Class of 2013 at 32nd Annual Senior Athletics Awards Banquet

    The Babson College Athletics Department held its 32nd Annual Senior Awards Banquet on Friday night where a total of eight individuals received honors. Women's basketball All-American Sarah Collins (Weymouth, Mass.) and men's soccer All-American Eric Anderson (Scituate, Mass.) were named Female and Male Athletes of the Class, while women's volleyball captain Kathleen Lynch (Quincy, Mass.) received the Conlon Award, presented for the first time in honor of both Michael Conlon '96 and Michelle Conlon '94. Rounding out the list of senior award winners were softball star Catie Funk (Scarborough, Maine) and baseball slugger Chris Kucher (Westwood, Mass.), who were honored as the Scholar-Athletes of the Class. In addition to the senior awards, men's basketball first-year Travis Sheldon (Woodstock, N.Y.) received the Colin "Chip" Brown Award, women's soccer and lacrosse first-year Kristina Simonson (Easton, Mass.) was honored as the winner of the Lori Vengrow Award, and Athletics Communications Director Chris Buck received the Paul C. Staake Award for outstanding contributions to Babson Athletics.

  • Babson Announces Five Honorees For 2013 Athletics Hall of Fame Induction

    The Babson College Athletics Hall of Fame Committee has announced the five honorees for its 2013 induction ceremony to be held on Friday, April 12. The Hall of Fame’s 14th induction class will include field hockey phenom Elise Conley Weigold '06, men's soccer star Mark Sullivan '86, ice hockey legend Joe Capprini '91, women's soccer standout Julie Doscher Borjeson '88, and current men's soccer coach Jon Anderson '75, P'04, P'08, P'13.

Senior captains Ashley Tourso (Glen Rock, N.J.) and Amy Festa (Medfield, Mass.) were both selected to compete in the prestigious event after enjoying stellar four-year careers for the Beavers.

    Senior captain Amy Festa (Medfield, Mass.) became just the fourth player in Babson College women's soccer history to earn All-Conference honors in each of her four seasons this week, as she joined fellow senior Kelly Hanly (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) and sophomore Jessica DiPhilippo (Falmouth, Maine) in earning New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) postseason honors. Festa was named to the All-NEWMAC First Team, while Hanly and DiPhilippo each garnered Second Team recognition. In addition, junior Kristen Dombrowski (New Hartford, Conn.) and sophomore Carly Moore (Traverse City, Mich.) were named to the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team for their efforts in the classroom.

The opening rounds of the field hockey, women’s soccer and women’s volleyball championships, originally scheduled for Tuesday, have been postponed until Wednesday, October 31.

    The Salem State Lady Vikings beat the Beavers of Babson College, who were ranked 12th in New England, 2-1 in a possession controlled game on Tuesday night at Alumni Field. The win improved Salem State to 8-5-2 on the year while Babson slipped to 8-7-2.
