Women's Alpine Ski Places Second in Giant Slalom at Mount Sunapee

NEWBURY, N.H.—First-year Lauren Abdow (South Londonderry, Vt.) and senior Elizabeth Baer (Salt Lake City, Utah) both recorded podium finishes as the Babson College women's alpine ski team came in second at Mount Sunapee Resort on Sunday.

The Beavers' top three skiers finishes less than a second behind first-place Castleton, which recorded its seventh consecutive victory. Brown was just under five seconds behind Babson in third position.

Abdow posted the second fastest time on both runs to post the top finish of her career coming in second with a time of 1:53.23. Baer moved up from fifth after her first run with the third best second run of the day to finish third overall with a time of 1:54.10.

Junior Sarah Mangiacotti (South Londonderry, Vt.) finished in seventh place, while sophomore Julia Martin (Belmont, Mass.) crossed the finish line a little three second behind her in 13th position. Classmate Kendall Sargis (Duxbury, Mass.) rounded out the squad with a 42nd-place showing.

Babson wraps up its MacConnell Division regular season schedule next Saturday and Sunday at West Mountain in Queensbury, N.Y.
