Women's Alpine Ski Places Fourth and Sixth in Slalom at Proctor

ANDOVER, N.H.—The Babson College women's alpine ski team secured their fifth consecutive trip to the regional championships by finishing fourth and sixth in a pair of season-ending slalom races at Proctor Ski Area last weekend.

After back-to-back runner-up finishes in 2017 and 2018, the Beavers came in third in the league standings this winter. Sophomore Sarah Mangiacotti (South Londonderry, Vt.), junior Elizabeth Baer (Salt Lake City, Utah) and first-year Julia Martin (Belmont, Mass.) will all officially be named to the All-MacConnell Division team next week.

The Green and White placed four skiers in the top 20 of Saturday's slalom race on the way to finishing fourth. Mangiacotti placed 11th, Martin was 16th, and the duo of Baer and senior Olivia Burwell (Manchester Center, Vt.) came in 18th and 19th, respectively. First-year Kendall Sargis (Duxbury, Mass.) rounded out the squad with a 32nd-place result.

Babson slipped to sixth place on Sunday as just two skiers were able to complete both runs. Baer was the team's top finisher in 11th position, while Martin came in 15th. Sargis was disqualified during her first run, and both Burwell and Mangiacotti failed to finish their second runs of the day.

Following a weekend off, the Beavers return to competition on February 23-24 when they travel to Sugarloaf Mountain to compete in the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships.
