Women's Lacrosse Comes in Second in NEWMAC Preseason Poll

WESTWOOD, Mass.—The Babson College women's lacrosse team received a pair of first-place votes and came in second when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released its preseason coaches' poll on Wednesday morning.

Defending conference tournament champion Springfield College collected seven of 10 first-place votes to finish atop the poll. MIT garnered the lone remaining first-place vote and came in behind the Beavers in third, while Wheaton College and the Coast Guard Academy rounded out the top five.

Reigning NEWMAC Coach of the Year Michelle Smith returns 12 players from a team that went 13-6 overall and 8-0 in conference play on the way to capturing its second consecutive regular season league title in 2019. Babson brings back a pair of all-conference and all-region selections, and two of its top three goal scorers from a team that tallied 17 or more goals on 11 occasions last spring.
