Bresnahan Sets Program Mark, Joins NCAA Record Books with 12-Goal Outburst

BABSON PARK, Mass.—
Senior Emily Bresnahan (Wenham, Mass.) erupted for a school-record 12 goals, including four in less than seven minutes to begin the second half, as the Babson College women's lacrosse team breezed past Wheaton College, 18-8, on April 8 in Norton.

Bresnahan's 12-goal outburst was highest scoring individual total in Division III in 2017 until Mitchell College's Ashley Murtha tallied scored 14 and 15 goals, respectively, in consecutive contests in late April. Bresnahan, who is tied for eighth all-time in single-game scoring, is one of just 21 Division III players in NCAA history to produce 12 or more goals in a game.

Needing just 15 shots to total 12 goals, Bresnahan scored five times in the first half to stake the Beavers to a 6-5 halfime-advantage. She ripped off four consecutive markers early in the second half and added three more goals over the final 18 minutes, the last coming with 5:46 left in the contest, as the Green and White pulled away from the Lyons.

Bresnahan, who scored 83 goals and dished out 23 assists for 106 points in just 36 career games, helped Babson win the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament championship and reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
