Women's Lax Duo Honored By ECAC
The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) recently announed its 2012 New England All-Stars in women's lacrosse, and a pair of Babson College athletes were honored. Senior Trisha Babson (Duxbury, Mass.) was named to the ECAC All-Region Second Team at the attack position, while junior Jameson Spang (Kennebunk, Maine) garnered Second Team honors in the midfield.

Babson Athletics Introduces Caitlin Irvine as New Assistant Field Hockey and Lacrosse Coach
The Babson College Athletics Department announced recently that Caitlin Irvine has been named its new Assistant Field Hockey and Women's Lacrosse Coach. The Westwood-native comes to Babson after an incredibly successful college career that culminated with a National Championship this past spring.

The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) recently announced its 2012 All-Region Teams, and four members of the Babson College women's lacrosse squad received honors in the New England Berkshire Region. Junior Jameson Spang (Kennebunk, Maine) was named All-New England Berkshire First Team, while senior captains Trisha Babson (Duxbury, Mass.) and Erin Daley (Darien, Conn.) joined sophomore Misha Beatty (Westwood, Mass.) on the All-New England Berkshire Second Team.

Women's Lacrosse Set To Host NEWMAC Tournament
BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Babson College women’s lacrosse team is set to host the 2012 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Semifinals and Championship games this weekend at MacDowell Field. The top-seeded Beavers will host fourth-seeded Wellesley College in Saturday’s first semifinal at noon, while the second semifinal, featuring second-seeded Springfield College and third-seeded Wheaton College, will follow at 2:30 p.m. The semifinal winners will meet on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in the NEWMAC Championship Game with an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament on the line.

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--Babson College scored five times in the first 2:45 of the game and never looked back, recording a 19-7 win over Smith College in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game on Saturday afternoon. It was the sixth straight win for Babson, improving their record to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in NEWMAC play. Smith suffered its first loss at home, falling to 6-5 and 1-2 in the NEWMAC.

2012 Season Preview: Women's Lacrosse
Coming off of their fifth consecutive New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) title and fifth straight bid to the NCAA Tournament, expectations remain high for the 2012 Babson College women’s lacrosse team. Led by first-year head coach Michelle Smith, the Green and White return eight starters and 12 letter winners from a team that won seven of its final eight games before falling to eventual national runner-up Bowdoin College in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament. Overall the Beavers finished at 10-8 and posted double-digit victories for the sixth straight year.

Beaver Tales No. 3: A Tale of Mud, Sweat, and Jumping Through Fire
Welcome to the December edition of Beaver Tales, which comes on the heels of a fantastic fall semester for Babson Athletics. Not only did we watch the men's soccer program make yet another historic run to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament, but we also saw the women's hoop squad get off to a fantastic 7-1 start after being ranked fifth in the nation to start the season. There were of course a number of exciting moments for all of our sports teams along the way, but those stories can wait until our annual "Top Moments of 2011" edition which will come out later this month.

Babson Names Ashley Ross Assistant Coach In Field Hockey And Women's Lacrosse
The Babson College Athletics Department has named Ashley Ross as its new assistant coach for field hockey and women's lacrosse, Director of Athletics Josh MacArthur recently announced. A standout goalkeeper in both field hockey and lacrosse at Division I University at Albany in New York, Ross received her Bachelor's Degree in 2009 as well as her Master's Degree this past spring. During her time as an undergraduate, she enjoyed a tremendous field hockey career, earning America East All-Conference honors three times and All-Northeast Region recognition once. She was twice named to the America East All-Tournament Team, including Most Valuable Player status in 2008, and she was runner-up for the conference's Woman of the Year Award.

Michelle Smith Named Babson's New Head Women's Lacrosse Coach
The Babson College Athletics Department has announced that Michelle Smith will take over the head coaching duties of its women's lacrosse program beginning this summer. A graduate of Trinity College, where she received her Bachelor's degree in 2008 and her Master's in 2011, Smith began her coaching career with a one-year stint as an assistant for the women's lacrosse program at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She then returned to her alma mater in 2009, where she has served as the assistant women's lacrosse and field hockey coach for the last two years. She takes over one of Babson's most successful programs following the departure of Kully Reardon, who announced her resignation earlier this spring.
