GILBERT, Ariz.—Seven members of the Babson field hockey program were recognized for their work in the classroom when they received Zag Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Academic Team honors earlier this week.
Senior Ashley Tango (Reading, Mass.) was named to the team for the fourth year in a row, while junior Haley Pesce (Roxbury, Conn.) was recognized for the second consecutive season. Senior Brielle Schafroth-Bach (Rye, N.H.), juniors Carla DiBiase (Winchester, Mass.), Kate Driscoll (Milton, Mass.) and Tori Roche (Andover, Mass.), and sophomore Cate McShane (Louisville, Ky.) all received their first national academic team accolades.
The National Academic team recognizes those student athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2017-18 academic year. Going back to 2013, head coach Julie Ryan has had at least six players honored for seven consecutive seasons.
Babson captured its fourth straight New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season title and finished with an overall record of 15-4 this past fall.
