Field Hockey Announces 2018 Schedule

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Coming off the program's third straight New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season title, Babson College head field hockey coach Julie Ryan officially released her program's 2018 schedule on Monday afternoon.

The Beavers, who will face five teams that were ranked in the top 20 to end last season, travel to Worcester State for their opener on August 31. The Green and White returns home to take on Endicott on September 1 and will also host Wesleyan on September 8 and Tufts on September 11.

Babson visits defending NEWMAC Tournament champions MIT in the league opener for both squads on September 15, which is followed by home tilts with UMass Dartmouth (September 17) and Springfield (September 21). The Beavers head north to take on Middlebury, which captured the Division III national title, on September 23 before closing out the month with matches against Bates (September 26) and Mount Holyoke (September 29) at MacDowell Field.

The Green and White will host crosstown rival Wellesley on October 2, which is followed by trips to Clark on October 6 and the University of New England on October 9. Babson hosts Smith on October 13 and wraps up conference play with road games at Wheaton (October 16) and WPI (October 20). The Beavers will host a pair of strong non-conference foes to close up the regular season as they take on Skidmore on October 24 and Montclair State on October 27.

The six-team NEWMAC Tournament will get underway with a pair of quarterfinal matchups on October 30. The top two seeds will host semifinal games on November 1 with the championship game set for November 3 at the highest remaining seed.
